Over the past decade Cindy Greene has freely and instinctively explored a wide variety of creative media. Far from being isolated forays into different careers, all of Cindy’s work is bound together by her intuitive ability to blur the lines between them, examining the boundaries where music meets fashion, fashion meets design, design meets photography. This immanent diversity has given Cindy the opportunity to work on an array of successful projects, both independent and in collaboration, receiving acclaim on an International stage.
In 1996, after graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Experimental Film, Cindy moved to New York City. There, whilst studying graphic design, she became a founder-member of the performance art group FischerSpooner. Over a 5 year period with the group, Cindy toured the world and, following the success of the single ‘Emerge,’ made television appearances on, amongst others, Jimmy Kimmel and Top Of The Pops.
During her time with FischerSpooner, Cindy also first ventured into the fashion industry, taking the position of Apparel Graphic Design Director at DKNY in 1999. Always driven by a desire for creative freedom, she also began working on her own designs and, in 2001, teamed up with Los Angeles-based Johnson Hartig to launch Libertine. As co-founder and designer, Cindy helped shape Libertine into a world renowned fashion label, receiving the prestigious Ecco Domani Fashion Award in 2003 as well as becoming a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2004. She developed a collection for Target in 20o7 and worked on many additional collaborations with Goyard, Damien Hirst, Be@rbrick, Muji, and Converse to name a few.
Throughout this time, Cindy also sustained a passionate interest in photography and film. In 2003 her photographs were exhibited in a solo-show at Rocket Gallery in Tokyo and her short film, ‘As The Summer Dies,’ was included in the Nueva Film Festival the following year. In her latest incarnation, Cindy Greene, is bringing her artistic insight to interior design. Cindy founded her eponymous interior design firm in 2010 with a focus on residential and commercial projects.
